It’s a fun post. Those tweets are outrageous! How could people be so stupid? They’re so dumb that I’m moving to Canada!!! But it turns out that searching Twitter for “moving to canada” after a big SCOTUS ruling and then posting the 17 stupidest sounding tweets might mean that some of those people were joking and you never noticed, because you were in a hurry to share funny jokes with the Internet. I understand. These things happen. But man, those people are going to be pissed off. Click the screenshot above for more examples of people that are kinda pissed about being featured in a Buzzfeed article! I love this phenomenon. The number of media required to produce this, the layers of possible meaning, the realm of criticisms from strangers that one invites by writing a joke on one’s phone… Hey remember when CNN couldn’t read a Supreme Court decision right and we all made fun of them Sure yeah I guess this is the next logical step after those people who got super offended when Frank Rich wrote a column about a photo they were in but come on people let’s be real if you’re actually concerned about idk your personal brand or whatever the fuck might be being adversely affected during the fourteen seconds at most that BuzzFeed readers might actually manage to retain your twitter handle inside their gnat-sized attention spans then you really do need to go and delete your twitter and your blog right this minute and/or just get it over with already and throw yourself off a tall building.
